Submissions Policy

Effective from 16 October 2025

Applies to all Europinion contributors, past and present

1. Purpose and Scope

This Policy sets out the terms under which Europinion Ltd ("Europinion", "we", "our", "us") accepts and publishes work. It applies to all written, audio, visual, and research material submitted for publication across any Europinion platform, affiliated social channels, podcasts, research outputs, and archives.

By submitting, or having previously submitted material, to Europinion, you ("the Contributor") agree to these terms. This Policy formalises our existing editorial practice and are designed to ensure consistency, fairness, and legal clarity.

2. Intellectual Property, Copyright, and Licence

Contributors retain copyright in, and the intellectual property rights to, their original work but grant Europinion Ltd a perpetual, worldwide, irrevocable, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to publish, reproduce, distribute, edit, adapt, translate, and archive the work in any form, format, or medium, whether now known or developed in the future.

This licence includes the right to:

  • make reasonable editorial and stylistic amendments for clarity, grammar, or legal compliance;

  • reproduce excerpts or derivatives (such as social media posts, podcasts, videos, or anthologies);

  • archive and store the work indefinitely, including in digital or physical form;

  • maintain the work on public or internal databases, repositories, or partner platforms.

This licence is irrevocable once the work has been accepted for publication. It survives termination of the contributor relationship and cannot be withdrawn for reasons including but not limited to changes in employment, reputation, opinion, or circumstance.

Europinion may edit submissions for grammar, clarity, tone, or compliance with editorial and legal standards, provided the author's intended meaning is not materially distorted.

3. Moral Rights and Attribution

Contributors will normally be credited under their given name unless anonymity or pseudonymity is requested prior to publication.

Europinion may, at its discretion, remove or amend bylines if requested by the contributor, whilst retaining the text itself.

Contributors waive the right to object to reasonable editorial amendments or claim that publication constitutes derogatory treatment of their work.

4. Retraction, Removal, and Archiving

Europinion retains full editorial discretion over what is published, amended, or archived. Submission does not confer a right to later removal.

Europinion will only consider retraction or removal if:

  • the content is demonstrably false, defamatory, plagiarised, or later found to be unlawful;

  • a valid legal order requires removal;

  • publication endangers an individual's safety or violates privacy or ethical standards.

Retraction or removal requests based solely on personal preference, reputation, or employment concerns do not constitute valid grounds for removal.

Under the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018, journalistic and academic content is exempt from erasure requests where publication serves the public interest or the exercise of freedom of expression and information. In exceptional circumstances, such as credible safety risk, Europinion may remove an author's name whilst retaining the text in full.

All published and retracted works are preserved for legal, academic, and record-keeping purposes.

5. Contributor Responsibilities

Contributors confirm that:

  • the submission is their original work and does not infringe third-party rights;

  • it contains no defamatory or unlawful material;

  • all quotations and sources are accurately attributed;

  • any conflicts of interest have been disclosed to the Editorial Team

Contributors indemnify Europinion Ltd against any loss, claim, or cost arising from breach of these warranties.

6. Editorial Independence

All editorial decisions are final. Acceptance does not imply endorsement of the contributor's views, as per the Editorial Disclaimer. Europinion may decline publication, request revisions, or edit content at its sole discretion.

7. Payment

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, contributions are voluntary and unpaid. Europinion Ltd may, at its discretion, offer honoraria, stipends, or commissions, but no expectation of payment shall arise from submission or publication.

8. Retrospective Application and Termination

This Policy applies to all material previously submitted to or published by Europinion Ltd.

All such works are deemed to have been published under the perpetual licence described above, reflecting long-standing editorial practices. Contributors who wish to discuss attribution, or who believe exceptional legal or safety grounds exist for modification, may contact Europinion Ltd. Such requests will be reviewed in good faith but remain subject to this Policy.

Termination of the ongoing contributor relationship, by either party and at any time, does not affect Europinion's rights to any material already accepted or published.

9. Governing Law

This Policy and any dispute arising from it shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction.

10. Acceptance of Terms

Submission of material constitutes acknowledgment that the Contributor has read, understood, and agreed to this Policy.

Continued correspondence or cooperation on publication after receipt of this Policy shall also constitute acceptance.
