João Caetano Guimarães

João Caetano Guimarães is an IR and history student at the University of St Andrews, currently on exchange at William & Mary in Virginia. 

João is a political commentator specialising in EU, Scandinavian and Transatlantic politics with a background in strategic-military analysis. His passions are shaped by varied interests in history, geopolitics, political theory and philology. João’s recent work has focused on electoral dynamics, separatist movements, EU enlargement strategies and the future of European military intellectual history. 

Prior to joining Europinion, his experience led him to fruitful contributions to a number of other initiatives in political-historical commentary. He is part of the New Public Sphere project (also hosted on Substack).
