Victoria Anastasia Aranowicz

Victoria is currently a DPhil (PhD) History candidate at the University of Oxford in St. Antony’s College. She holds a Master of Arts in European and Mediterranean Studies and a Bachelor of Arts in History, Journalism, and Creative Writing from New York University. Additionally, she spent more than a decade as a trained theatre performer.

 

Victoria’s DPhil project examines a couple of Slavic Pagan sects in twentieth-century Poland and how their ideas about “race” shape their imaginings of Polish national identity. It is a severely understudied topic, and Victoria is excited to add her original research to this budding historical field. 

 

Victoria’s general research interests focus on Central and Eastern Europe, belief systems, and how they affect cultural and political ideologies such as nationalism, identity, antisemitism, gender and sexuality, and more. Most of her work falls within the realms of intellectual and cultural history. 

 

With her research, literary, and arts experience, as well as her Polish-American background, Victoria hopes to bring a unique take on global news to Europinion as an editor, contributor, and chief spokesperson.
